Services that we offer at the Ector County Library


FREE WIFI

Wireless access is available on all floors. Due to a joint venture between Ector County and City of Odessa WI-FI access is also available is some areas of the Noel Park. Simply click “ECL-Wireless WiFi” under WiFi settings and it will take you to our “Acceptable Use Policy”. You must agree to this policy before accessing the internet through our WiFi.

WIRELESS PRINTING

FREE NOTARY

Our notary may be able to help notarize your wills, trusts, deeds, contracts, affidavits and more.
Be prepared to sign your documents with our notary:

  • Bring a valid, government issued photo ID with you when you visit for notary services

  • Be sure to bring all of the documents that need to be notarized with you.

  • Be sure the documents are complete and ready for signature. If you need legal advice, please consult an attorney. The notary public is prohibited from helping you to prepare, complete, or understand legal documents.

  • Some documents may require signature witnesses in addition to notarization.

CURBSIDE PICKUP

Curbside pickup allows you to reserve items via our online catalog or over the phone and drive to the library to pick them up. A staff member will call to let you know when your items are ready for pickup. When you arrive at the library, please call the front desk and give them your name and vehicle description and a staff member will bring your items out to you. Pickup times are between 10:30am-5:00pm.

QUIET STUDY AREAS

There are numerous areas throughout the library for you to sit and work on assignments and/or documents. There is a quiet study room located in the Southwest History and Genealogy department completely dedicated to studying. The AV/Young Adult department has an area equipped with comfortable furniture for Teens and Young adults to sit and study. The Children’s department is also equipped with two seating areas for children to study and read.

EXAM PROCTORING

Exam proctoring is offered in the Southwest History and Genealogy department on the 2nd floor. You will need to give a 48hr notice before the exam so that staff can prepare signs to be posted throughout the department regarding exams in progress. Students should refer to the institution through which the course is being offered to ensure proper procedures are being followed. A current picture ID is required for identification confirmation. HOTSPOTS, TABLETS AND CHROMEBOOKS

We now offer Hotspots, Chromebooks, and Tablets to checkout. Ask our front desk staff if you would like to request them!

  • These devices check out for 3 weeks.

  • You must be 18 years or older to check out these devices. At the time of checkout, you must show the staff a valid state issued ID, a copy of which will be kept on file.

  • To checkout any devices, you must have no fines or fees on your account.

  • Please return the items inside the library. Do not drop them in the book drop.  

  • Device services will be deactivated once they become overdue.

  • You may check out three devices at a time: one hotspot and two of the others. For example, you can check out two tablets and a hotspot, but won't be able to check out two hotspots.
