Free Beginner Classes
Due to COVID-19 no classes are scheduled at this time.
Classes offered are Introduction to Computers, Microsoft Word basics, Microsoft Excel basics, Microsoft Powerpoint basics, E-Books and occasional E-Mail. Classes are limited to 10 students, so please call (432) 332-0633 ext 2106 to see what classes are being offered and to pre-register.
- Computer Basics
Learn the difference between a computer motherboard and hard drive. You will learn basic Internet searching and how to use a mouse. Also learn how to turn on and shut down a computer and much more.
- Microsoft Power Point 2010 Basics
Learn how to simple new presentation, insert slides, change slide fomat, insert text, move slides around, slide transitions and how to save. How to insert images and graphics if time permits.
- Microsoft Word 2010 Basics
Learn how to control your line spacing, insert bullets and add headers and footers to your text. You will find out how to bold and underline your text.
- Microsoft Excel 2010 Basics
Learn how to make a simple spreadsheet and chart. Find out the basic formulas that make using spreadsheets easier.
Need additional computer help beyond one of our classes?
We now offer one-on-one computer help sessions. Sessions are available to library card holders once a month at various times Tuesday – Thursday. To make an appointment, print off Class Request form and stop by the library or call 432-332-0633.
Wireless Access is Available throughout the Library!
Wireless access is available on all floors. Wireless printing is also available prints pick up in the computer lab. Due to a joint venture between Ector County and City of Odessa WI-FI access is also available is some areas of the Noel Park. So you can enjoy the scenic view and surf the web all at the same time.
Headphones are NOT PROVIDED you will need to bring your own.
Using the Computer Lab
The lab is automated and you must have a library card to use a computer. If you do not have a library card one can be obtained at the checkout desk located on the first floor.
Please read our Acceptable Use and Unacceptable Use Policies. There are 16 computers for free public access. These computers have many educational programs, Internet, Microsoft Office products and other software. There are also 2 computers for 20 minute Quick E-Mail checking. Due to damage and misuse headphones they are no Longer Provided. You are welcome to bring your own.
